Welcome to Ballyhaunis Life

Ballyhaunis Life is a website produced BY and FOR the people of Ballyhaunis and surrounding areas.  The purpose of the website is to  inform and educate people about what is happening in and around Ballyhaunis.  This is the Hub of Ballyhaunis.  It is the ideal medium for getting your news out there,  promoting what is happening in the town, businesses can promote their special offers, free of charge,  you can advertise for sale or wanted items free of charge, job vacancies, anything!  You can also keep up to date with all the news from Ballyhaunis Chamber  and see what they are doing for YOUR town.  The Parish Newsletter is updated weekly.  You can see what is happening with all the Organisations in Ballyhaunis and find phone numbers for all the businesses and local services.  This is the ONE STOP SHOP for info about Ballyhaunis.  Share it with your friends and family abroad.  If you have something you want to share on this website ring the Chamber office on  094 9630311.  

Ballyhaunis Swimming Pool is now open .

Weather is fantastic so why not come in to this amazing facility. Pool is open monday to friday 2.30pm to 5pm for July and August. 

Ballyahunis Tidy Towns

Have you an hour to spare on a Monday or a Wednesday evening? Ballyhaunis Town need volunteers on either of these evenings. They meet at 7pm in the Swimming Pool Car Park. Come along and help keep your town beautiful. 

Ballyhaunis Residents object to proposed knotweed plant

Ballyhaunis residents living in the Drumbaun area have objected to a knotweed facility in their village. The development will cause major noise pollution to the residents. There is also concern about the road leading to the site as it is not wide enough to for two vehicles to meet and would also pose as a danger to walkers. The propsed plant is the first of its kind in Ireland. 

Golf for Beginners

Beginners classes for ladies and gents has started in Ballyhaunis Golf Club.  Clubs and balls are supplied. Classes will take place every wednesday evening from 7.30 to 9pm. 

Monday Meets 55+ at Clare Court Ballyhaunis

Monday meets are proving to be a great success in Ballyhaunis. Come along to the Communal House at Clare Court 11am to 12.30 for a chat, cuppa and enjoy the variety of talks and activities. Next meeting will be hosted by Ballyhaunis Community School Transition Year Students and takes place on Monday 23rd April. 

Girls Gaelic Football at Ballyhaunis GAA Club

The Ballyhaunis Ladies Football Club is hosting regular training sessions at Ballyhaunis GAA Club  for girls between the age of 6 and 10 on saturday mornings between 11am and midday. This is an excellent chance to meet young people of their own age and get involved in one of the fastest growing sports. All are welcome. 

Thaigh Morley to volunteer for Special Olympics

Best wishes to Thaigh who has been chosen to volunteer to help Irish athletes who will be travelling to Abu Dhabi in March 2019 for the Special Olympics. As part of this Thaigh has agreed to raise €4,500 . He has established a fundraising campaign to reach his target and you can check it out and donate to this worthy cause by logging onto the Ballyhaunis GAA Club Facebook page. All support will be much appreciated. 

US Navy to name ship after Cpl. Gallagher

Members of the Gallagher family from Ballyhaunis have been informed that after a five year campaign the US Navy will name its next state of the art destroyer after the young Ballyhaunis marine who died in the Vietnam War in 1967. It is planned to commence building the ship later this year and should be completed in the next three  years. 

Ballyhaunis to get by-laws to target anti-social behaviour

New by-laws preventing the consumption of intoxicating liqour in public places are to be introduced in Ballyhaunis. Cllr John Cribben highlighted the problem at a recent Mayo County Council meeting and said it was a major problem especially at The Friary Ground. Once the by-laws are drafted it will take up to three months to put them in place. 

Relocation of Ulster Bank Mobile Banking service in Ballyhaunis

The Ulster Bank Mobile Banking Service has been relocated to the rear of Delaneys Hardware Store, Bridge Street, Ballyhaunis . 
This service operates 
Tuesday 10.15 to 12.30 and Thursday 14.00 to 15.00
